This castle with its red rocks in the mountains, has made itself the most unique castle in Iran. It is said that Alamut was once a prison, if not only a prison but a specific social class lived in the castle. The fort is 120 meters long. Alamut is surrounded by scary cliffs and the only access to it is from the northeast side of the Hudkan Peak. Alamut Castle has special beauties, such as a sophisticated drainage system (earthen pipes that work beneath the soil or through the wall to let water pass) at a diameter of 10 centimeters, which draws water from the fountain into the fortress and into the rock.
